World’s Best Bear, 2024

3rd Place

Winnie-the-Pooh

How They Got Here

2024 is an appropriate year for Winnie-the-Pooh to achieve this accolade because it is has been precisely a 100 years in the making as he first appeared on the public scene in A.A. Milne’s 1924 poem “Teddy Bear.” But just like 2025 is when he first revealed he was the 3rd-best bear of 2024, it was 1925 when Winnie-the-Pooh revealed his name to the public by warning of “The Wrong Sort of Bees” (non-Sweet Livin’ bees).

Of course many things happened in between with the Winnie-the-Pooh books written by A.A. Milne and many subsequent television, film, and stuffed-animal adaptations.

Yes, one doesn’t become the world’s 3rd-best bear overnight.

While a century-long climb to recognition on this Prestigious Poll may seem like a long time to us mere humans, for many bears to even get on the Poll, let alone medal, it has taken thousands of years—or even millions of years if you consider their evolutionary history goes back to the great Eocene Epoch where a kind of bear-dog roamed, known to be ferocious hunters that must have partaken in some serious gluttony that could be considered an early evolutionary antecedent to the Roaring Twenties, when Pooh first roamed the Hundred Acre Wood, but never was invited to any of Jay Gatsby’s lavish parties because the Gatsby was a fictional character and a liar, and thus not deserving a spot on this Prestigious Poll.

Perhaps riding the coattails of the 2023 winner, That Vintage Bear, This Vintage Bear showed, capturing 3rd place and earning more than a Bronze Medal in the Olympics: immortality, through success in a World Famous Sweet Livin’ Productions World’s Best Bear Poll. For such a reason, bear enthusiasts and poll analysts alike are—or at least should be—calling 2023 “The Year of the Vintage Bear.” The fact that the Kodiak Bear was the only non-vintage bear to show, makes its second-place finish all that more impressive. But we cannot dismiss This Vintage Bear’s qualities in praising the group success of the overall vintage bear community. We can see that This Vintage Bear comes from good stock. I mean, just look at this family photo! That is a great family. It just proves something everyone knew, little girls don’t need mothers when they have a great vintage bear, like This Vintage Bear, to help raise them.

Where They Came From

Obviously, Winnie-the-Pooh hails from the Hundred Acre Wood. In Milne’s original stories, the Hundred Acre Wood is part of a larger forest that the characters simply have primetime real estate in. But in subsequent representations and coffee-shop-Pooh talk, the Hundred Acre Wood represents the entire magical word of Pooh.

What’s Next For Them

Naturally, to show in a World Famous Sweet Livin’ Productions World’s Best Bear Poll is impressive enough. And what this means for Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends cannot be overstated. Not only will their real estate continue to increase beyond normal market values with this extra exposure, they will also get more endorsement opportunities and Hollywood roles. Winnie-the-Pooh has already parlayed the success in this Prestigious Poll to a role in a movie this year, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3. Naturally, This Vintage Bear would like to match That Vintage Bear as winner of a World Famous Sweet Livin’ Productions World’s Best Bear Poll—or at least finish second behind That Vintage Bear in order to assert vintage bear dominance in a way never envisioned before, or even now on the Other Internet. Only time will tell—and by time, we mean 2024 through the World Famous Sweet Livin’ Productions World’s Best Bear Poll, 2024. Vote now. Vote later. Vote on history (when 2025 begins, the 2024 Poll will become part of history; don’t find yourself on the sidelines of history when you could be getting playing time).

How They Compare To Their Predecessor

While This Vintage Bear took the world by surprise to catapult themself from a relative unknown to all of the fame associated with finishing 3rd in this Prestigious Poll. In a somewhat of a contrast, Winnie-the-Pooh was pretty well known before the greatest achievement of his life in finishing 3rd in this Poll. For instance, Pooh finished 7th in the BBC’s 2003 “The Big Read” Poll. But that Poll was just for the United Kingdom, whereas this Prestigious Poll is for the whole world. So we will look Pooh’s fame to continue to grow, just as This Vintage Bear’s fame grew exponentially. Though This Vintage Bear’s origins are less well-documented as genealogists are still scrambling to find the This Vintage Bear’s history in vintage records, it does seem like This Vintage Bear and Winnie-the-Pooh may be of a similar generation.
