More bison live in South Dakota than any other state. Some estimates put their population now at 45,000 today. While a little under a million people living in South Dakota, we can say the bison make up somewhere a little under 5 percent of the state’s population.

Another Fact: bison are one of the most famous things about South Dakota.

Yet Another Fact: despite being famous and having a somewhat sizable population, they have 0 percent of the state’s wealth.

So, it’s time we take some money, like pictured below, and help them out.
